Abstract

COVID-19 is still a world health issue until 2022. Common therapy for COVID-19 includes antibiotics for patients with secondary infection, antiviral therapy, supportive drugs, and non-pharmacologic treatment, statin is one kind of drug that still be on researched for COVID-19 therapy. Statin has a pleiotropic anti-inflammatory and imunomodulatory effect that can improve the result for COVID-19 patients. This systematic review aims to analyze the effects of statin use on COVID-19 patients mortality. Systematic review conducted by searching article from June 2021 - November 2021 from Pubmed, Google Scholar dan Science direct databases using PRISMA-P 2020 flow chart. 12 articles were obtained discussing the effect of statin use on COVID-19 patients mortality. 9 articles (75%) stated significantly lower mortality and 3 articles (25%) stated non-significant lower mortality. Statin anti-inflammatory and imunomodulatory effects can be useful as adjuvant therapy for COVID-19 patients with comorbidities.
