Abstract

This study aims to examine the dissimilarities of financial performance and abnormal return’s companies pre- and post-merger and acquisition. Samples that being examined in this study are companies listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange and commit to merger and acquisition in 2017-2018 with total samples of 19 companies. Variables that being examined are liquidity (CR), profitability (ROE), asset management (TATO), and abnormal return. Observation periods for financial performance are 3 years pre- and 3 years post-merger and acquisition, and for abnormal return are 10 days pre- and 10 days post-merger and acquisition. Wilcoxon signed-rank test and paired sample t-test are used for data analysis. The results of this study are profitability shows a significant difference, whereas liquidity, asset management, and abnormal return do not show a significant difference.
