Abstract

The focus of this study is the sister city cooperation between the Government of Jakarta and the Government of Hanoi for the period 2017-2019 in revitalization of the Jakarta Old Town Area.. Based on this background, this research raises the question "How are the efforts of the DKI Jakarta Government and the Hanoi Government in addressing the obstacles to revitalizing the Jakarta Old Town Area for the 2017-2019 period?". This study uses the concept of paradiplomacy that forms a pattern of sister city cooperation with qualitative research methods whose data sources are obtained from primary and secondary data. The results obtained from this study indicate that the Government of the City of Jakarta and the City of Hanoi has an effort in the form of implementing a Joint Venture between institutions and the exchange of information on urban governance between the City of Jakarta and the City of Hanoi. Through several efforts that have been carried out, the Jakarta Government stated that the process of revitalizing the Old Jakarta area must continue even though the cooperation period has ended, so it can be concluded that the sister city cooperation between the two parties is not working as it should.
