Abstract
The emergence of podcasts in Indonesia has been gaining popularity over the past five years. This is interesting to explore, considering that podcasts have been popular in many countries since the early 2000s. This specific medium of digital audio content is known to be easily produced, hence the access to start a podcast by anyone. This research shows how the experiences of Indonesian podcasters in producing digital audio content, what their experiences are in the production's room, how they interpret their experiences in producing digital audio content, and their motives in producing digital audio content. This research used qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. Phenomenology is the right approach to examine more deeply a person's experience of a phenomenon. The researcher further dove into the experiences of 10 Indonesian Podcasters as well as the in-depth process of podcast production and produced at least 15 themes in the experience of Indonesian podcasters in producing digital audio content, showing how Indonesian podcasters interpret podcasts and showing the motives of Indonesian podcasters in producing digital audio content. This research summarizes how the experiences of Indonesian podcasters in depth are expected to be the first steps for further researchers as well as the advancement of new media and employment opportunities in Indonesia.
