Abstract
Smoking behavior in Indonesia continues to increase in adolescence. This is increasing with the number of teenagers who smoke, due to factors in the role and function of the family that are not optimal. This study aims to determine the relationship between family roles and functions with smoking behavior in adolescents at SMAN 15 Jakarta. The method used is descriptive analytic with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total sample of 125 adolescents. Analysis of the data used is univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with Chi Square test. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between family roles and smoking behavior (p value = 0.000), and there is a relationship between family functions and smoking behavior (p value = 0.000). Families should establish open communication and involve adolescents in solving existing problems together so that when the teenager finds a problem they do not avoid the problem by engaging in deviant behavior, one of which is smoking.
