Abstract

This research focuses to determine how violent communication behavior both verbally and non-verbally that occurs in the family environment from the perspective of the mother as a parent to her child. The theory used in this research is symbolic interaction theory. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The informants in this study consisted of six families in Kelurahan Kwitang, Central Jakarta who were included in the research criteria. The results of this study indicate that violent communication in the family environment is caused by various factors, internal problems, family conditions, decreased economic needs, and lack of recreation outside the home. Violence communication which is interpreted as information is good, bad, progress in communication, opening children's minds, becomes a deterrent effect. the use of verbal violence in the family environment leads to the use of high notes followed by screams made by parents to their children at home. then come up with inappropriate words, like anj **, b * g *, etc. in addition, non-verbal communication takes the form of hitting or pinching.
