Abstract

Interpersonal communication has a big role in the activities of tahfizh Al-Qur'an. Through interpersonal communication, tahfizh teachers can provide an understanding to their students that memorizing the Qur'an is a fun and easy activity. In creating good interpersonal communication, of course, there are strategies that must be developed by communicators. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of the interpersonal communication strategy applied by the tahfizh teachers at KQS Al-Maghfiroh in producing the generation of Al-Qur'an memorizers. This research was conducted at KQS Al-Maghfiroh in Pangkalan Jati, Depok City, one of the tahfizh houses managed by Askar Kauny Foundation. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was carried out by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation. Researchers used purposive sampling technique to collect some informants. This research shows several results, namely: (1) The teachers develops a communication strategy in producing the generations of Al-Qur'an memorizers, (2) The forms of interpersonal communication processes for teachers with dyadic communication, small group communication, verbal and non-verbal communication, (3) teacher uses 2 out of 5 communication control strategies, those are the dangling carrot strategy and the long sword strategy, (4) there are 5 factors that support and inhibit students in memorizing Al-Qur’an, namely age factor, parents factor, teachers factor, time factor, and motivation factor, (5) the teachers uses MASTER method in guiding students to memorize the Al-Qur'an, (6) teachers and students apply 4 out of 5 concepts of the effectiveness of interpersonal communication proposed by Devito, ( 7) teachers apply Symbolic Interaction theory, and (8) The results that have been achieved by KQS Al-Maghfiroh in producing the generations of Al-Qur’an memorizers are: has had 108 students who are actively memorizing. Besides that, there were also achievements made by students in the Al-Qur'an tahfizh competition.
