Abstract
In December 2019, in the city of Wuhan, China, there was an epidemic of respiratory infections that developed into a pandemic and was caused by a new Coronavirus (CoV) named Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) with the disease named Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The use of heparin / Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH) is reported to have a beneficial effect on cases of COVID-19. This Systematic Review aims to present a publication on the effectiveness of Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH) on mortality rates in COVID-19 patients. Method: Systematic Review by conducting literature searches that discuss LMWH on mortality in COVID-19 patients through PubMed, Springerlink and Science Direct. The literature search was carried out using the PRISMA-P 2015 method and eliminated journals using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist. Results There are 18 journals in the inclusion category and it is concluded that the use of LMWH has an effect on COVID-19 patients in the form of a decrease in mortality rate. Conclusion: There is effectiveness of LMWH in reducing the mortality rate for COVID-19 patients.
