Abstract

In the home industry, the processes of making crackers and chips are mostly still done manually, one of which is the cutting process, which requires more time and effort and costs for the workers. The purpose of this thesis is to design an automatic cutting tool for crackers / chips that can be adjusted in thickness. This tool uses two linear aktuators made of servo 360 and several components such as bolt nuts, threaded iron and acrylic as the frame, this linear aktuator functions as a driver of the cracker / chips material to the cutting area and another one to move the cutting knife. To keep the linear aktuator from exceeding the limit, a limit switch is used at the beginning and end of the cracker pushing path and also the cutting knife. To control the thickness using an optocoupler sensor. The controller used is the Atmega 328p microcontroller found on the Arduino Uno R3. The LCD component is used as a media for displaying thickness data to be input. Based on the testing of the tool in terms of strength, the cutting mechanics are good enough for cutting the ingredients of tempeh and banana chips but not suitable for fish crackers. In terms of speed, due to the concept of driving a cutting knife using a screw, the cutting speed is quite long. The level of precision of the tool is classified as good for cutting potato, tempeh and banana chips with the smallest error of 2% for cutting 5mm of tempeh and banana and the largest error of 10% for cutting 2mm of potato chips.
