Abstract

This study discusses the Indonesian maritime security strategy in tackling, safeguarding, non-traditional, illegal fishing where on this issue there has been an increase in the number of flagged vessels in 2015 - 2016. Indonesia's strategic position and abundant marine resources only provide challenges. This study will examine how Indonesia's maritime strategy in tackling non- traditional security violations specifically for illegal fishing. This research uses the concept of strategy, non-traditional security and maritime security which will explain the Indonesian maritime security strategy in discussing non-traditional security. This study uses a type of qualitative research method to report the problem of illegal fishing. The results of this study reveal the fact that increasing illegal fishing activities in Indonesia directing Indonesia to develop a maritime security strategy. In overcoming security threats, illegal fisheries, Indonesia has a different strategy in the domestic, regional and international levels.
