Abstract

Home-based tempe production is generally carried out using conventional methods, resulting in non-ergonomic working postures that increase the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. Based on the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), soybean washing and tempe packaging were identified as the highest-risk activities, with REBA scores of 10 and 9, respectively. This study aimed to design a work aid to improve working postures and reduce ergonomic risks. The proposed design was developed using the SCAMPER method and its dimensions were determined based on anthropometric data. The proposed working postures were then evaluated using the REBA method with the assistance of Siemens Jack software. The results showed that the proposed work aid reduced the REBA score for the washing activity from 10 to 3 (70%) and for the packaging activity from 9 to 5 (44.44%), reducing the ergonomic risk levels from high to low and from high to medium, respectively. These findings indicate that the proposed work aid can improve working postures and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders in home-based tempe production.
