Abstract

Stress is a common mental health issue among adolescents and can be influenced by various factors, including biological mechanisms, such as omega-3 intake, breakfast habits, and diet quality. This study aims to determine the relationship between omega-3 intake, breakfast habits, and diet quality and stress levels among adolescents at Senior High School 21 in Jakarta. The study used a cross-sectional design with 92 respondents selected through convenience cluster sampling. Data were collected using the SQ-FFQ for omega-3, breakfast frequency, DQI-A, and PSS-10 questionnaires, and were subsequently analyzed using the chi-square test with SPSS software. The results showed that the majority of respondents experienced moderate stress levels (84.8%), had insufficient omega-3 intake (56.5%), maintained a regular breakfast habits (64.1%), and had poor dietary quality (51.1%). There was no significant association between omega-3 intake and stress levels (p=0.109) or between breakfast habits and stress levels (p=0.540). However, there was a significant association between diet quality and stress levels (p=0.046). It can be concluded that diet quality is associated with stress levels, whereas omega-3 intake and breakfast habits do not show a significant association. Students are encouraged to establish a breakfast routine, ensure adequate omega-3 intake, maintain a high-quality diet through a varied intake, and practice adaptive stress management to support their physical and mental health. Future research is encouraged to investigate other factors that may influence stress levels in adolescents using more objective methods
