Abstract
NURSING CARE FOR MENTAL PATIENT MRS. J WITH SOCIAL ISOLATION NURSING PROBLEMS IN THE BENGKOANG WARD OF DUREN SAWIT RSKD Cinta Abstract Social isolation is a psychiatric nursing problem frequently observed in patients with schizophrenia and can progress into more complex disorders if left unmanaged. This case study aims to describe the application of psychiatric nursing care for Mrs. J, who experiences social isolation, in the Bengkoang Ward at RSKD Duren Sawit. The research method utilized a nursing process approach comprising assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, with data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed descriptively. The assessment results indicated that the patient experienced social withdrawal, limited communication, and minimal social interaction. The intervention provided consisted of structured Implementation Strategies (SP) for nursing actions, including: SP 1 (establishing a therapeutic relationship, identifying the causes, benefits, and disadvantages of social isolation, and practicing introduction with the first person), SP 2 (practicing gradual interaction with a second person/another nurse), and SP 3 (practicing interaction within a small group with other patients). Following the nursing actions, the patient demonstrated significant improvements across three dimensions of capability. Affectively, the patient began to exhibit positive emotional responses and felt more comfortable during interactions. Cognitively, the patient was able to understand the importance and benefits of establishing social relationships. Psychomotorically, the patient was capable of maintaining eye contact, introducing herself, and communicating with others gradually. This case study concludes that the application of psychiatric nursing care through a structured and gradual Implementation Strategy (SP) approach succeeds in optimizing social interaction capabilities in patients with social isolation.
