Abstract
Occupational skin diseases remain a major work related health concern among workers. Contact dermatitis is one of the most prevalent occupational skin disorders worldwide, including in Indonesia. In 2024, Depok City recorded 19.026 dermatitis related healthcare visits. Fresh fish traders are particularly vulnerable to contact dermatitis because of continuous exposure to water, irritants, and allergens during their daily activities. This study aimed to examine the associtation between individual and occupational factors and contact dermatitis complaints among fresh fish traders. A quantitative cross sectional study was conducted between May-July 2026 involving 100 fresh fish traders in Depok City selected through cluster random sampling and accidental sampling. Data were collected through interviewer administered questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. The results revealed significant associations between contact duration (p = 0.002; POR = 4.632; 95% CI: 1.797–11.937), tenure (p = 0.017; POR = 3.563; 95% CI: 1.336–9.502), personal hygiene (p = 0.041; POR = 3.158; 95% CI: 1.139–8.756), PPE use (p = 0.009; POR = 4.141; 95% CI: 1.492–11.496), and contact dermatitis complaints. Fresh fish vendors are recommended to maintain good personal hygiene and use PPE consistently while working.
