Abstract
Drug-Related Problems (DRPs) are issues that arise during medication treatment and can influence the results of the therapy, such as extending the length of stay (LOS). This study aimed to identify the incidence of DRPs in diarrhea therapy and analyze the relationship between DRPs and LOS among pediatric inpatients at “X” Hospital, Bekasi, in 2025. This retrospective cross-sectional, analytical observational study utilized purposive sampling from medical records and evaluated the data using the chi-square test. The results showed that there were 11 patients with DRPs, with the most common category being “dose too low” ( 54.5%), followed by “dose too high” (27.3%), and “needs additional drug therapy” (18.2%). Most patients had a length of stay (LOS) of ≤4 days, totaling 31 patients (79%). Analysis of the relationship between DRPs and LOS revealed a significant association (p=0.028; OR=6.944), indicating that patients with DRPs had a 6.944 times higher risk of having an LOS >4 days. In the analysis of DRP categories, an underdose was significantly associated with LOS (p=0.011; OR=14.5), whereas no treatment despite indications (p=0.372) and an overdose (p=1.000) did not show a significant association. The occurrence of DRPs, particularly an underdose, contributed to an increase in LOS among pediatric patients with diarrhea
