Abstract
Additive manufacturing technology, particularly Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM), involves various process parameters that influence the dimensional accuracy of printed parts. Two important parameters that significantly affect dimensional precision are printing speed and nozzle temperature. This study aims to analyze the effects of these two parameters on the dimensional accuracy of Polylactic Acid (PLA) and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) materials, as well as to determine the optimal parameter combination using the Taguchi method. The experimental design employed an L9 orthogonal array with a 20×20×20 mm calibration cube specimen and an M20×2.5 threaded bolt specimen. The analysis was conducted using the Signal-to Noise (S/N) ratio with the smaller-is-better characteristic. The results indicate that the optimal parameter combination for the cube specimen was achieved with PLA at a nozzle temperature of 230°C and a printing speed of 30 mm/s, while for ABS it was 280°C and 60 mm/s. For the bolt specimen, the optimal parameters depended on the geometric features analyzed. In general, ABS material tended to perform better in most responses, whereas PLA showed superior performance in specific features. Therefore, material selection and process parameters should be adjusted according to the geometric characteristics and dimensional requirements of the printed product.
