Abstract
ABSTRACT Background: This study was motivated by the high prevalence of plantar fasciitis as one of the main causes of heel pain, which can reduce an individual’s functional ability in performing daily activities. Plantar fasciitis is a musculoskeletal disorder characterized by inflammation and microtrauma of the plantar fascia caused by repetitive mechanical stress. This condition results in complaints such as heel pain, limited range of motion, decreased muscle strength, and impaired mobility. Therefore, appropriate physiotherapy management is required to help reduce symptoms and improve the patient’s functional movement. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of a combination of physiotherapy interventions, including ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), stretching, and myofascial release, in the management of plantar fasciitis. Research Method: This study employed a descriptive case study approach. Data collection was conducted through anamnesis, observation, physical examination, pain assessment using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), range of motion measurement, muscle strength testing, and evaluation of the patient’s functional ability. Physiotherapy interventions were administered gradually and systematically according to the patient’s condition, with the aim of reducing pain, increasing tissue flexibility, improving circulation, and enhancing functional movement. Results: The findings showed that the combination of ultrasound, TENS, stretching, and myofascial release was able to significantly reduce pain intensity, improve range of motion, increase muscle strength, and enhance the patient’s functional ability. In addition, the patient experienced greater comfort while walking and performing daily activities after undergoing the therapy program. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the combination of physiotherapy interventions provided was effective in supporting the management of plantar fasciitis and had a positive impact on the recovery of the patient’s functional movement.
