Abstract

The Sharia life insurance sector plays a crucial role in protecting the public from various risks; however, a number of Sharia life insurance companies still face challenges in maintaining profitability due to rising claim payments, liquidity conditions, and investment returns that affect their financial performance. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between claim ratios, liquidity, and investment returns and the profitability of Sharia life insurance companies in Indonesia for the period 2022–2024. This study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing the annual financial statements of sharia life insurance companies registered with the OJK from 2022 to 2024 as secondary data. The sample consists of 17 companies selected through purposive sampling, with the analysis conducted using panel data regression. The result of this study indicate that the claim expense ratio, liquidity ratio, and investment return ratio do not individually affect the companies’ profitability. However, when considered simultaneously, the claim expense ratio, liquidity ratio, and investment return ratio collectively influence the profitability of sharia life insurance companies, these results can serve as a reference for companies seeking to strengthen their profitability.
