Abstract

Employment opportunities reflect a region’s capacity to absorb its labor force and are an important indicator of economic development. This study examines the effects of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Provincial Minimum Wage (PMW), Mean Years of Schooling (MYS), and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on employment opportunities in six Indonesian provinces during 2015-2024. A quantitative approach was employed using secondary data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS). Panel data regression analysis was conducted using EViews 12. The findings show that GRDP has a negative but insignificant effect on Employment Opportunities, while PMW has a positive and significant effect. In contrast, MYS and FDI have negative and significant effects. Simultaneously, all independent variables significantly affect employment opportunities across the six provinces. These findings highlight that labor market conditions are influenced not only by economic growth but also by wage policies, educational attainment, and foreign investment.
