Abstract
Regional development in Gorontalo Province remains uneven, as reflected in disparities in economic performance, public service availability, and development levels among regencies and municipalities. Therefore, identifying regional growth centers is essential to promote balanced regional development. This study aims to identify growth centers, analyze spatial interactions, and determine hinterland areas in Gorontalo Province. A quantitative approach was applied using secondary data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Gorontalo Provincial Spatial Plan (RTRW) 2024-2043, and other relevant institutions. The study employed scalogram analysis, gravity analysis, and comparative descriptive analysis. The findings indicate that Gorontalo Regency is the primary growth center based on the highest service hierarchy (Order I), while Gorontalo City records the strongest spatial interaction. Bone Bolango Regency functions as the main hinterland of Gorontalo City, whereas North Gorontalo, Boalemo, and Pohuwato Regencies serve as the hinterland of Gorontalo Regency. Agricultural activities in the hinterland and trade and service sectors in the growth centers generate forward linkages, backward linkages, and multiplier effects. Strengthening infrastructure, public services, and regional investment is necessary to achieve more balanced and sustainable regional development.
