Abstract

This study aims to determine how echange rates, Bank Indonesia’s rates, the Fed’s interest rate, the money supply and the COVID-19 pandemic effect the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) in Indonesia during the 2015-2024 period. A total of 120 secondary data observations were used in this study, sourced from the Bursa Efek Indonesia, Bank Indonesia, Badan Pusat Statistik and Federal Reserve Economic Data. In this study, the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model was used as the analytical method because it is capable of analyzing both short-term and long-term effect. The result show that (1) the exchage rate has a negative and significant effect on the IHSG in both short- and long-term effect; (2) interest rates do not have a significant effect in the long and short term. (3) the Fed Rate and (4) the money supply does not have a significant effect on IHSG, and (5) the COVID-19 pandemic has a negative and significant effect in the short term. These results indicate that the exchange rate is a crucial element in the movement of the IHSG.
