Abstract
Crude Palm Oil (CPO) exports are one of Indonesia’s major sources of foreign exchange earnings. However, Indonesia’s CPO export volume to European Union countries has fluctuated due to various domestic and global economic factors. This study aims to analyze the effects of global CPO prices, CPO production, exchange rates, and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the plantation sector on Indonesia’s CPO export volume to the Netherlands, Spain, and Italy during the period 2015–2024. This study employs secondary panel data and applies panel data regression analysis. Based on model selection tests, the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was chosen as the most appropriate model for estimation. The results indicate that global CPO prices and exchange rates significantly affect Indonesia’s CPO export volume, while CPO production and plantation-sector FDI do not have significant effects. The Least Square Dummy Variable (LSDV) analysis reveals differences in the response to global CPO prices across export destination countries, whereas the remaining variables show relatively similar patterns. This study concludes that global prices and exchange rates are the main determinants of Indonesia’s CPO exports to the selected destination countries.
