Abstract

This quantitative study examines the effects of financial distress, growth opportunity, and sales growth on firm value in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2022–2025 period. The study uses panel data consisting of 520 observations from 130 manufacturing companies. The Random Effect Model (REM) was selected based on the results of the Chow, Lagrange Multiplier, and Hausman tests. The findings indicate that financial distress has no significant effect on firm value, suggesting that financial difficulties are not necessarily perceived negatively by investors as long as the company maintains favorable business prospects. Growth opportunity also has no significant effect on firm value, indicating that asset growth is not always considered a positive signal for increasing market value. Similarly, sales growth does not significantly affect firm value, implying that higher sales do not necessarily improve investors’ perceptions of a company's market value. Furthermore, the three independent variables explain only 2.13% of the variation in firm value, measured by Price-to-Book Value (PBV), while the remaining 97.87% is explained by other factors outside the research model. Overall, the findings suggest that variables beyond those examined in this study play a more substantial role in determining the firm value of manufacturing companies in Indonesia.
