Abstract
Background: This case study was conducted to describe the application of deep breathing relaxation techniques and five-finger hypnosis in addressing the nursing problem of acute pain in postoperative breast tumor patients. Acute pain is a common issue experienced by patients after surgical procedures due to tissue damage, which can cause discomfort, hinder mobilization, and delay the healing and recovery process. Pain management is not only carried out pharmacologically but can also be combined with non-pharmacological interventions that are effective, safe, and easy to implement by both nurses and patients independently. Objective: The purpose of this case study is to describe the application of deep breathing relaxation techniques and five-finger hypnosis in reducing pain intensity in postoperative breast tumor patients. Methods: The method used is a case study approach based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The subject of this study was one postoperative breast tumor patient in the Mawar Surgical Inpatient Ward of RSU Kota Tangerang Selatan. Results: The results showed that after the implementation of deep breathing relaxation and five-finger hypnosis for 3 days, the pain scale decreased from 7 to 3. The patient appeared more relaxed and was able to control pain independently. In addition, this intervention helped reduce anxiety and improve the patient's sleep pattern during the recovery period. Conclusion: The conclusion of this case study is that deep breathing relaxation techniques and five-finger hypnosis are effective non-pharmacological interventions in reducing acute pain in postoperative breast tumor patients. Suggestion: This scientific paper is expected to serve as a reference for healthcare professionals, students, and educational institutions in developing evidence-based nursing practices through the application of non-pharmacological interventions for acute pain management in postoperative breast tumor patients.
