Abstract
Background: Acute Gastroenteritis (GAE) is a condition that attacks children, characterized by symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting that can cause fluid loss, increasing hypovolemia. This paper aims to describe the nursing care process for pediatric patients with hypovolemia problems due to the diagnosis of Acute Gastroenteritis at the South Tangerang City Hospital. Method: In its implementation, the method used is a case study on An.S with Gastroenteritis at the South Tangerang City Hospital with a nursing process approach that includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and review of medical records. Results: The results of the assessment of An. S showed diarrhea, vomiting, decreased skin turgor, dry mucous membranes, and lack of fluid intake. The main nursing diagnoses identified were Diarrhea related to the Gastrointestinal Infection process, Hyperthermia related to the Infection process and Hypovolemia related to significant fluid loss. After the implementation of nursing actions carried out 3x24 hours the diarrhea problem can be resolved including monitoring vital signs, monitoring fluid balance, providing fluid therapy according to medical instructions, and education for the patient’s family. Conclusion: The nursing care that has been given to the client based on the emerging diagnosis can be resolved the patient’s condition shows significant progress with reduced signs of dehydration.
