Abstract

This study titled Analyzing Indonesian Democracy in Prabowo Subianto's Swearing-In Address as President (Critical Discourse Analysis from Teun van Dijk's Viewpoint) explores Indonesian democracy as portrayed in Prabowo Subianto's inaugural address on October 20, 2024, as the President of the Republic of Indonesia, viewed through the framework of Teun van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) methodology. In the context of the diminishing democracy in Indonesia, this study is particularly pertinent to illustrate how Indonesian democracy is conveyed through discourse frameworks, specifically macrostructure (central theme), superstructure (text organization), and microstructure (word selection, language style, and rhetorical elements). This study employs Van Dijk's AWK theoretical framework to analyze the content’s dimensions, social cognition, and socio-political context influencing Prabowo Subianto's speech discourse. The research approach is qualitative, utilizing content analysis methods. The primary information for this study is the text of Prabowo Subianto's inaugural speech, which was examined to uncover Indonesian democratic principles, including deliberation, unity, and social justice, as well as how these principles manifest iadership communication. The findings of this research suggest that
