Abstract
Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NaDES) have been introduce as a sustainable solvents that are currently being developed as an alternative to conventional organic solvents for extracting bioactive compounds as environmentally friendly solvents. The use of NaDES continues to be developed to improve extraction efficiency. Moringa plants was high nutritional content and offer many benefits, know such antioxidant activity. The presence of phenolic and flavonoid compounds plays a role in providing antioxidant activity in Moringa leaves. This study aimed to synthesize four types of NaDES using choline chloride as a Hydrogen Bond Acceptor (HBA), it was combined with urea (CU), propylene glycol (CP), citric acid (CAS), and glucose (CGLU) to analyze their efficiency in extracting secondary metabolites from Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera). The NaDES were prepared using the heating method at 80°C with constant stirring until a clear and stable liquid was formed, with the addition of 50% distilled water. The extraction effectiveness of the NaDES was analyzed based on physicochemical parameters, including pH, density, viscosity, TPC, and TFC. The results showed that NaDES CU provided optimal results in extracting bioactive compounds, with a total phenolic content of 15.6046 mg GAE/g and a flavonoid content of 1.3294 mg QE/g. The characteristics of the NaDES significantly influenced the success of bioactive compound extraction from the plant material. Furthermore, the selection of the appropriate Hydrogen Bond Donor (HBD) affected the effectiveness of the NaDES in metabolite extraction.
