Abstract
Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) requires secondary prevention through appropriate dietary management to prevent complications and mortality. Knowledge regarding risk factors serves as a foundation for changes in patients' eating behaviors. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge regarding secondary prevention with dietary adherence and fruit and vegetable consumption patterns in CHD patients. This research utilized an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, conducted at the National Defense Central Hospital from November 2025. The sample consisted of 105 outpatients selected using the quota sampling technique. Research instruments included a knowledge questionnaire (Heart Disease Fact Questionnaire), a dietary adherence questionnaire, and a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a good level of knowledge (72.4%) and were adherent to the diet (76.2%). Bivariate analysis results indicated no significant relationship between knowledge level and general dietary adherence (p=0.698) or between information provision and dietary adherence (p=0.065). However, there was a significant relationship between knowledge level (p=0.018) and information provision (p=0.010) with fruit and vegetable consumption patterns. In conclusion, good knowledge correlates positively with specific actions such as fiber consumption; however, general dietary adherence is likely influenced by other external factors, such as family support.
