Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive and irreversible decline in kidney function, which often requires patients to undergo renal replacement therapy such as hemodialysis. Repeated hemodialysis procedures often cause fatigue, which significantly affects patients' quality of life. Fatigue can occur during or after hemodialysis and is influenced by anemia, metabolic disorders, fluid imbalances, and psychological factors. In hospitalized patients, fatigue occurs both during treatment and during daily activities. Therefore, non-pharmacological interventions are needed, one of which is foot massage. Foot massage is a complementary therapy that improves peripheral circulation, induces relaxation, and stimulates the release of endorphins. This method is easy to perform, can be administered by healthcare personnel or family members, and does not interfere with the hemodialysis process. The intervention was performed during the intradialysis phase for approximately 10 minutes, from the 51st to the 60th minute, three times per session, for a total of three sessions. Results showed a reduction in fatigue levels, with scores in the main group decreasing from 34 to 25 and in the control group from 36 to 28. Foot massage is recommended as a routine complementary intervention to enhance comfort and improve the quality of life for hemodialysis patients.
