Abstract
Cardiac arrest is one of the most common causes of death. Each year, more than 17 million people worldwide die from heart disease, including cardiac arrest. Of these, approximately 7 million deaths are caused by cardiac arrest. However, if Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as an emergency measure to restore the respiratory and circulatory function of a stopped heart, is given immediately, it can prevent death caused by cardiac arrest. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes toward Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) practices at Tarakan Regional General Hospital, Jakarta. This study used a quantitative observational method with a correlational approach, involving 137 nurses. The research instruments included a demographic and professional background questionnaire, a CPR knowledge questionnaire, a CPR attitude questionnaire, and a CPR practice questionnaire. The results showed a statistically significant relationship between CPR knowledge and CPR practice (p-value = 0.008). Furthermore, a statistically significant relationship was found between Body Mass Index (BMI) and CPR practice (p-value = 0.005). This study emphasizes the importance of continuously improving CPR skills to maintain the lives of cardiac arrest patients.
