Abstract
This study aims to analyze the legal obligations of business actors in labeling BPA-related risks following the enactment of PerBPOM 6/2024 and to assess its implications for the fulfillment of consumers’ right to information. Public concern over Bisphenol A (BPA) exposure in polycarbonate gallon packaging has heightened the need to strengthen consumer protection measures. Employing a normative juridical method with statutory and conceptual approaches, this research conducts a qualitative analysis of primary and secondary legal materials. The findings reveal that PerBPOM 6/2024 introduces a new legal consequence in the form of an explicit obligation to display BPA hazard warnings, thereby reinforcing business actors’ responsibility to provide accurate, clear, and honest information. The study further shows that the four-year transition period may lead to non-compliance among business actors and delay the realization of consumer rights, making strict BPOM supervision and early voluntary labeling crucial. The novelty of this research lies in its position as the first normative analysis specifically examining BPA labeling obligations after the 2024 regulatory reform, an issue not previously addressed in the literature.
