Abstract
Inflation is a major economic issue in Indonesia, as its instability can reduce purchasing power, increase production costs, and create economic uncertainty. This study aims to analyze the effects of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), money supply, exchange rate, and foreign exchange reserves on inflation in Indonesia during the 2014–2024 period using the Error Correction Model (ECM) approach. The estimation results indicate that in the long run, GDP, exchange rate, and foreign exchange reserves have a positive and significant effect on inflation, while the money supply is not statistically significant. In the short run, GDP, money supply, and exchange rate do not have a significant effect, whereas foreign exchange reserves remain influential, although with a weaker impact compared to the long run. Economically, these findings suggest that inflation in Indonesia is primarily driven by structural and fundamental economic factors in the long term, where economic activity, external stability, and price expectations play a more dominant role than short-term liquidity effects. Therefore, inflation control requires comprehensive coordination between monetary policy and broader macroeconomic policies.
