Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of mean years of schooling, life expectancy, and per capita expenditure on the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in West Kalimantan and East Kalimantan Provinces. The study employs secondary panel data covering the period 2015–2024 obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The analytical method used is panel data regression with a Fixed Effect Model approach, refined using the Feasible Generalized Least Square (FGLS) method to address heteroscedasticity and autocorrelation problems. Hypothesis testing is conducted at a 5 percent significance level. The results indicate that, partially, mean years of schooling has no significant effect on the Labor Force Participation Rate, while life expectancy has a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, per capita expenditure has a negative and significant effect on the Labor Force Participation Rate. Simultaneously, mean years of schooling, life expectancy, and per capita expenditure significantly affect the Labor Force Participation Rate in West Kalimantan and East Kalimantan Provinces. These findings suggest that improvements in population health increase labor force participation, whereas rising economic welfare tends to reduce labor market engagement, and educational attainment has not yet translated directly into higher participation due to structural constraints in regional labor markets.
