Abstract
The development of information technology has significantly impacted various aspects of human life, including everyday activities such as searching for and learning cooking recipes. Amidst this advancement, traditional Indonesian cuisine—especially from West Sumatra—has been losing its popularity and is increasingly overshadowed by foreign dishes. The lack of proper documentation and limited access to traditional recipes are major factors contributing to the declining public appreciation of regional culinary heritage. In fact, West Sumatran cuisine holds high cultural and culinary value that deserves to be preserved. This research aims to design and develop a web-based information system for documenting traditional West Sumatran recipes. The system is developed using the Waterfall method, which consists of problem identification, data collection, requirements analysis, system design, coding, testing, and implementation. The resulting system is expected to facilitate the preservation and wider dissemination of traditional West Sumatran recipes, making them easily accessible to the general public and helping to sustain Indonesia’s cultural culinary heritage.
