Abstract

Linezolid in the BPaLM regimen (Bedaquiline, Pretomanid, Linezolid, and Moxifloxacin) for the treatment of Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is known to have several side effects, one of which is anemia. Linezolid in BPaLM has the potential to disrupt erythropoiesis. Since anemia is related to hemoglobin levels and hemoglobin is related to erythropoiesis, this study aims to evaluate changes in hemoglobin levels in MDR-TB pulmonary patients receiving BPaLM therapy at Persahabatan General Hospital during the period of June 2024–June 2025. This research uses a quantitative approach with a retrospective longitudinal design through observation of medical record data. The study population consists of MDR-TB pulmonary patients undergoing the BPaLM regimen at Persahabatan General Hospital from June 2024 to June 2025, with a sample size of 28 subjects. Sampling was conducted using simple random sampling technique. Bivariate analysis showed significant changes in hemoglobin levels at months 4, 5, and 6 after BPaLM therapy (p<0.05). Meanwhile, no significant differences in hemoglobin levels were found at months 1, 2, and 3 post-therapy (p≥0.05) in MDR-TB pulmonary patients at Persahabatan General Hospital during the study period. Based on the results, it was found that the use of linezolid in the BPaLM regimen has an effect on changes in hemoglobin levels (showing an increase) that became significantly apparent after entering the fourth month of therapy.
