Abstract
Diabetic neuropathy is a common chronic complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) that can reduce patients quality of life. The severity of diabetic neuropathy is influenced by various factors, including demographic, clinical, and lifestyle factors includimg sleep quality. However, research findings on factor affecting the severity of diabetic neuropathy still show varying findings. This study aims to determine the relationship between sleep quality and fators affecting the severity of diabetic neuropathy in T2DM patients at Jurang Mangu Community Health Center. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design involving 74 respondents. Diabetic neuropathy was identified using the 10g Monofilament, neuropathy severity was assessed using the Neuropathy Symptom Score (NSS), and sleep quality using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data were analyzed bivariately using the Chi-square test and then followed by multivariate analysis. The result showed a significant relationship between sleep quality and the severity of diabetic neuropathy (p < 0,05). Meanwhile, age, gender, BMI, duration of diabetes, hypertension, and HbA1c levels did not show a statistically significant relationship with the severity of diabetic neuropathy (p > 0,05). The conclusion of this study is that sleep quality is a factor significantly associated with the severity of diabetic neuropathy in T2DM patients.
