Abstract

Epithelial Ovarian carcinoma is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among women, with most cases diagnosed at advanced stages. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Cancer Antigen-125 (CA-125) levels and histopathological subtypes of ovarian carcinoma in patients diagnosed at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto in 2024. This research employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were obtained from the Anatomical Pathology Installation medical records using a total sampling technique based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The independent variable was the histopathological subtype, while the dependent variable was the CA-125 level. Descriptive analysis showed that most patients were in the 46–60-year age group. The most frequently identified subtype was Endometrioid Ovarian Carcinoma. CA-125 levels were distributed relatively equally between normal and elevated categories, although normal levels were more common. Statistical testing demonstrated no significant association between CA-125 levels and histopathological subtypes. These findings indicate that CA-125 cannot yet be used as a predictor of histopathological subtype, although it still has an important role in clinical evaluation and disease monitoring. Future studies are recommended to use larger sample sizes and include additional variables to provide a more comprehensive understanding.
