Abstract

Indonesia's halal cosmetics industry is experiencing a significant surge in growth as Muslim consumers increasingly prioritize sharia-compliant products Make Over, a halal-certified local brand, continues to face challenges in fostering strong customer loyalty despite its certification. This research examines how halal certification and product design affect Muslim customer loyalty to Make Over cosmetics in Jabodetabek, with brand image acting as mediating variable. A quantitative approach is employed through an online survey of 100 Muslim respondents in Jabodetabek who have repurchased Make Over products, selected using purposive sampling. Data are analyzed with SmartPLS 4.0 using the PLS-SEM method, employing t-statistics and mediation tests. Based on the results of the study, halal certification has a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty, while product design has a positive but insignificant effect on loyalty. In addition, halal certification and product design have been proven to have a significant positive effect on brand image, where brand image also has a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty. Furthermore, brand image successfully mediates the influence of halal certification and product design on customer loyalty. Therefore, brand image is an important element that strengthens the influence of halal certification and product design in shaping customer loyalty.
