Abstract
Objective This study aimed to identify the relationship between fasting blood glucose, resting heart rate, physical activity, and stress levels with blood pressure among UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine students Class of 2024. Method This analytical observational study applied a cross-sectional design involving 72 students from the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine Class of 2024 selected through a convenience sampling technique. Data were collected through measurements of blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, and RHR, as well as the administration of questionnaires. The research instruments consisted of a glucometer, a digital blood pressure monitor, the IPAQ-SF and the PSS-10. Bivariate analysis was performed using simple logistic regression, while multivariate analysis was conducted using multiple logistic regression. Result The results showed that 60 respondents (83.3%) had normal fasting blood glucose levels, while 70 respondents (97.2%) had a normal resting heart rate. Moderate–vigorous physical activity was observed in 53 respondents (73.6%), and moderate–high stress levels were found in 58 respondents (80.6%). Normal blood pressure was found in 36 respondents (50%). Bivariate and multivariate analyses showed that fasting blood glucose, RHR physical activity, and stress levels had no significant relationship with blood pressure (p > 0.05). Conclusion Although most respondents had normal fasting blood glucose levels, normal resting heart rate, adequate physical activity, and moderate–high stress levels, these factors were not significantly associated with blood pressure in this study. Therefore, future studies are recommended to consider other variables and employ more objective measurement methods to achieve a more comprehensive understanding
