Abstract
The consistently low voter turnout in Jakarta's regional head elections has become a compelling subject of study, particularly given Jakarta's unique political dynamics as the nation's capital and its elevated significance compared to other provinces. This reality has garnered extensive attention from national media, with outlets like Tempo Digital newspaper intensely reporting and analyzing various related aspects, highlighting that voter participation in the capital was the lowest in the history of regional head elections. This research aims to identify the factors influencing public participation in the Jakarta Regional Head Election in 2024. This study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory method, utilizing political participation theory. The research focuses on voter factors (X) as the independent variable and voter participation rate (Y) as the dependent variable. The population consists of all registered voters in Jakarta, as determined by the General Election Commission. With 53% of Jakarta's population, or 4,374,035 people, exercising their voting rights, a sample of 400 respondents was selected using the Slovin formula and accidental sampling. The findings indicate a significant influence of various factors on public participation in the Jakarta Regional Head Election 2024. The research yielded a significance value of 0.000, which is less than the research's margin of error (0.05). The magnitude of this influence is 60.7%, with the remaining 39.3% attributed to other variables not examined in this study
