Abstract

Health is the primary asset in achieving the well-being of a nation's people. In the health sector, the maternal mortality rate is one of the indicators widely used by countries worldwide to describe the well-being of their communities. Therefore, mothers are family members who deserve priority in health management efforts. Therefore, efforts to improve maternal health require special attention and monitoring. The maternal mortality rate (MMR) remains a health challenge for Indonesia, requiring special attention from the Indonesian government. The Indonesian government has established a partnership with the United States through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which is expected to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality. In this study, the author discusses how the collaboration between USAID and Indonesia addresses maternal health issues. The author uses theories of international cooperation, bilateral cooperation, and foreign aid. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with primary and secondary data sources. The primary data collection technique is derived from interviews, and secondary data is derived from literature studies. The final results of this study can show that the USAID-Indonesia collaboration through the provision of foreign aid in reducing maternal mortality in the Bogor Regency case study. Although not yet showing a quantitative decline, the quality has been quite successful, resulting in the strengthening of health facilities and the strengthening of the technology-based emergency referral system, SIJARIEMAS.
