Abstract
Poverty is a structural issue that reflects disparities in development and low levels of societal well-being. This study aims to analyze the impact of several economic factors on poverty levels in the provinces of Banten and Central Java. The independent variables examined in this research include the Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK), Average Years of Schooling (RLS), and Population Size (LJP). The study utilizes panel data from 43 regencies/cities across the two provinces over the 2009 2023 period, resulting in a total of 645 observations. The analytical method employed is panel data regression, combining cross-sectional and time-series data, with data processing conducted using Stata 17. The results indicate that UMK and RLS have a significant negative effect on poverty, while LJP has a significant positive effect. Furthermore, interaction test results reveal that the effects of UMK and RLS on poverty are stronger in Central Java than in Banten. These findings underscore the importance of minimum wage and education policies as strategies for poverty alleviation, as well as the need to manage population growth to effectively reduce poverty levels.
