Abstract
This study aims to analyze. the regulations related to the recognition and legitimations of the. le.gal status of children born outside of marriage as we ll as the practice of birth certificate registration for children born out of wedlock in Indonesia. The legal issues regarding the. status of children born ou.t of wedlock remains a complex issue in the Indonesian legal system given the differences in treatment between children born in legitimate marriages and those. born out. of wedlock. This study employs a qualitative approach by analyzing relevant laws court decisions and administrative. regulations related to birth certificate registration The study reveals that despite existing regulations that provide re cognition for children born ou.t of wedlock there are still challenges in the implementation of the. law and birth certificates registration that are not fully in line. with the. existing provisions. The. practice. of administrative. birth certificate registrations are often hindered by social factors and bureaucracy which affect children born ou.t of wedlock in accessing the.ir rights. This study suggest that improvements should be made in regulations and administrative procedures to ensure a more just and transparent recognition of the legal status of children born out of wedlock.
