Abstract
This study investigates the seakeeping performance of a Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) vessel using three different strut configurations: vertical, inclined, and canted. The primary objective is to analyze how variations in strut design affect the vessel’s motion response under different wave conditions. The modeling was carried out using ANSYS SpaceClaim, and seakeeping analysis was conducted in ANSYS AQWA, focusing on heave, pitch, and roll responses under head sea, quartering sea, and beam sea wave directions. Model validation was performed through a comparison of wetted surface area with a reference model. The results reveal that the inclined strut configuration produces the highest motion responses, while the vertical strut 2 design demonstrates the best performance in damping vessel motions, particularly at medium to high wave frequencies. These findings emphasize the significant influence of strut geometry on the stability, comfort, and overall hydrodynamic performance of SWATH vessels. This study is expected to serve as a valuable reference for optimizing future SWATH vessel designs for improved efficiency and operational capability.
