Abstract
Plastic waste, with a global volume exceeding 350 million tons annually, poses a serious environmental problem that threatens ecosystems and human health. This study focuses on the design and development of a mixing-extruding machine to produce recycled filament material with a capacity of 1.5 kg/hour. The research methodology includes needs identification, design, design analysis, machine fabrication, and testing. The machine is designed with a twin-screw system to homogeneously mix materials and achieve optimal extrusion. The mixing and extrusion processes require precise temperature and speed settings. The results show that the mixing-extruding machine, equipped with a 6-watt electric motor operating at 1250 rpm and a transmission ratio of 1:25, has dimensions of 800 x 500 x 500 mm³ and consumes 1.021 kWh of power. The developed machine can process plastic waste into recycled filament with high efficiency, achieving a capacity of 1.82–2.4 kg/hour at a speed of 25 rpm and temperatures ranging from 200°C to 320°C. This machine is expected to support plastic waste management and the circular economy, offering an innovative solution for producing environmentally friendly materials.
