Abstract

The deepfake video case first emerged in early 2023 with deepfake video content resembling the faces of Indonesian public figures and spread on social media, which then became the focus of public attention and sparked concerns about the misuse of Artificial Intelligence technology in Indonesia. Artificial Intelligence, in its essence, is a technology resulting from the advanced development of computer science, focusing on the development of computational technology and algorithms, enabling its application in various new applications such as natural language processing, facial recognition, and image processing. This study aims to identify and analyze criminal law policies regarding deepfake pornography and the reforms that must be made to provide legal certainty regarding deepfake pornography in Indonesia. The research method used is normative juridical with a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The discussion results indicate that there are several legal regulations that address deepfake pornography. However, these regulations are considered insufficient to address deepfake pornography in Indonesia, necessitating the reformulation of criminal law policies by categorizing deepfake pornography as part of the criminal offense of pornography under the Pornography Law. In Indonesia today.
