Abstract

The development of electronic transactions in the digital era has changed the pattern of economic interaction of society, but it also raises legal issues, especially related to transaction failures that harm consumers. This research aims to analyse the legal responsibility of business actors in e-commerce transactions and the legal steps that consumers can take if they suffer losses due to defaults, such as late delivery or hidden defects in the product. The method used is normative juridical with a statutory approach and literature study, referring to Law Number 8 Year 1999 on Consumer Protection and the Civil Code. The results show that consumers are entitled to legal protection, including compensation for losses arising from breach of contract. The GCPL provides two channels for dispute resolution: litigation through the courts and non-litigation alternatives such as BPSK, mediation, arbitration, and conciliation. Institutions such as BPKN and LPKSM also play an important role in consumer advocacy and dispute resolution. Legal protection in digital transactions requires regulatory reform and institutional strengthening to ensure justice, certainty, and legal benefits for consumers.
