Abstract

Hull Vane is a hydrodynamic device installed at the stern (rear) of the ship's hull. Functions as a ship resistance reducer and improves ship maneuverability. Hull Vane uses NACA 0021 tubercle A2λ7,5 with angle of attack variations of 0֯,1֯, 2֯, 3֯ and is placed in 3 different positions using a speed of Fn.60 and a wave direction angle of 90֯ and 180֯, and uses the hull of the destroyer DTMB-5415. Seakeeping analysis was carried out using the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) method with ANSYS AQWA software. Based on this analysis, the results obtained were that Position 3 is the best position for placing the Hull Vane, because it produces the lowest 6-DOF values.
