Abstract

Chemotherapy in breast cancer patients can lead to anemia due to bone marrow suppression, which reduces hemoglobin production. To manage the resulting anemia, treatments such as Packed Red Cells (PRC) transfusion and administration of Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agents (ESA) are used. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of post-chemotherapy anemia treatment in breast cancer patients at Dharmais Cancer Hospital Jakarta in 2023. It was an observational study with retrospective data collection using medical records of patients admitted to the inpatient ward of Dharmais Cancer Hospital in 2023. A total of 35 patients records were included based on the total sampling method. Statistical analysis was conducted to compare hemoglobin levels before and after the administration of anemia therapy. The results showed a significant difference in hemoglobin levels between pre- and post-treatment (p < 0.001). The administration of anemia therapy was proven effective in managing anemia, as indicated by the significant increase in hemoglobin levels after treatment.
