Abstract
This study aims to analyze the comparison of the financial performance of three Islamic banks in Indonesia, namely Bank Mega Syariah (BMS), Bank Aceh Syariah (BAS), and Bank Central Asia Syariah (BCAS), before and after the Covid-19 pandemic. The research period covers 2017-2020 (before the pandemic) and 2021-2024 (after the pandemic). The research method uses descriptive quantitative analysis with secondary data in the form of annual financial reports of these banks. The financial ratios used include Capital Ratio (CAR), Earning Ratio (NPF), Profitability Ratio (ROA, ROE, NIM, BOPO), and Liquidity Ratio (FDR). The results showed that the three banks experienced different performance dynamics. The highest Capital Ratio (CAR) is owned by BCAS (34.3% before and 35.6% after the pandemic), followed by BAS and BMS, with all banks meeting the “Very Healthy” criteria. The best Earning Ratio (NPF) was achieved by BMS (decreased from 2.1% to 1%), indicating an improvement in financing quality. Profitability ratios recorded BMS as the top performer in ROA (up from 1.3% to 2.7%) and ROE (up from 5.4% to 15%), although BAS remained stable in NIM (7.5% before and 6.9% after the pandemic). Liquidity Ratio (FDR) was best for BAS (70.2% before and 74.4% after the pandemic), while BMS and BCAS experienced a decline but remained in the healthy category. The conclusion of this study indicates that the Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the financial performance of Islamic banks, with BMS showing the most notable improvement in efficiency and profitability.
